About the Opportunity

Due to ongoing growth, Hillery Group currently has multiple casual opportunities for experienced Plant Operators to join the team at their quarries based around the Bowen, QLD region, working upwards of 38 hours a week.

Reporting to the Quarry Manager, you will be responsible for undertaking a range of quarrying work in accordance with company standards and project specifications.

More specifically, your day to day duties will include (but will not be limited to):

  • Operating a range of plant, equipment and attachments, including dump trucks, excavators and loaders;
  • Carrying out routine daily cleaning and maintenance of plant, including minor adjustments and repairs;
  • Undertaking general labouring/operational duties when required, including participation in the running of crush plants;
  • Maintaining accurate machine records/logs, and working effectively as part of a team to ensure smooth workflow; and
  • Adhering to company policies, including WH&S, while proactively contributing to a clean and safe working environment.

About You

To be considered for this position, you must have extensive experience operating heavy machinery/crushing and screening equipment, specifically in a civil works environment, and at minimum, relevant competencies for plant operation, loaders and excavators. While not essential, any previous experience in a crush plant environment would be seen as highly desirable.

As an experienced plant operator, you will have a highly developed understanding of excavators and loaders, with an ability to proactively respond to errors in machine operations by being able to quickly identify what the machinery is telling you.

You will take pride in your work and the machinery you operate, and be willing to complete routine inspections and minor maintenance tasks.

A team player, you will appreciate the need to ensure a smooth workflow, while remaining committed to the safety of yourself and others. Most importantly, you must be comfortable working the hours involved in this role, with participation in weekend shifts as required.

Please note: Successful candidates must have a current, unrestricted Australian driver's licence and pass a pre-employment Medical and Drug and Alcohol test.
